Speaking from the experience of overcoming autoimmune disease by making one lifestyle change, one month at a time — then writing a book about that struggle — my goal on any stage is to give other women the permission to choose their own wellness adventure.
As a gluten-free chef and award-winning blogger, I’ve shared dozens of strategies for finding that elusive “balance” on your plate, and through daily natural beauty regimens, hydration habits, spiritual practices, and many other lifestyle areas. But beyond those tips, I hope to answer a necessary question: at what point does “clean living” cross the line into something just as toxic as an endocrine-disrupting face wash?
Through these conversations, I try to give audiences a roadmap for finding self-care practices that are worth the time, money and energy we spend on them, and a shame-free framework to kick those that aren’t to the curb.
So many women are battling their bodies and looking to others for answers. After years of feeding on fads and following misguided medical advice, I can say with authority what I’d always suspected: wellness is a journey that starts within. By sharing my story, I hope to motivate a new wave of women to find their own sweet spot between health and hedonism, wherever it may be.
Testimonials
“Phoebe is absolutely wonderful to work with in every capacity. She’s a stellar writer, and incredibly effective at communicating health and food information in a way that’s accessible, informative and, most importantly, fun and engaging for readers and viewers. We’re highly selective about who we produce mbgclasses with, and Phoebe’s didn’t disappoint, continuing to entertain and educate viewers to this day. She always delivers impeccably – with a smile on her face that will make you feel like grinning too.”
–Liz Moody, Director of Programing, Mind Body Green
“Phoebe Lapine is the perfect storm of knowledge and charisma, charm and expertise. With Phoebe, you’re having so much fun that you don’t even realize how much great information you’re learning from her.”
–Charles Conyers, Head of Production, Healthination
“Phoebe Lapine is one of the most engaging visiting writers we’ve ever had the pleasure to host at Franklin & Marshall College. We knew from reading her two books that she knows how to write beautifully about food, wellness, and young women’s lives, but what we couldn’t know until she’d visited was how engaging, funny, and warm she is in person. Our students bonded with her immediately, and as the conversation ranged, they learned deeply from her as well. Phoebe’s writings about food and health cover a lot of important ground, from the joys of cooking for oneself and the art of creating a career in the gig economy to the challenges that women, especially, face as they try to improve their health. Her writing is also studded with personal stories and memoir-style confessions that elevate the prose to the level of art. In person, Phoebe presents this rich mix of material with great personal charm. She is the kind of writer one wants as a friend–not just while reading her work, but especially after meeting her in person. We can’t wait to host her again.”
–Kerry Sherin Wright, Director of the Philadelphia Alumni Writers House, Franklin & Marshall College
“Phoebe was a natural on camera during our 2-day Wellness Wednesdays shoot. Her delivery was effortless, knowledgeable and friendly, and her tone very conversational and approachable – which is exactly what we were going for. She came extremely prepared with thorough knowledge of the content at hand and was able to help us wrap shooting in almost half the time we had set aside to get everything we needed. She was a pleasure to work with!”
